"Abstraction + Geometry"

February 6 - March 2, 2025

Royse Contemporary is proud to present “Abstraction + Geometry”, a group exhibition examining abstraction and geometry, reflecting upon the effects both create within artwork. Abstraction and geometry are brilliant tools allowing artists to freely express themselves, explore and share their vision while connecting with viewers. An important  aspect of abstract art is the incorporation of geometric elements. Geometric abstract art explores the use of precise shapes, lines, and compositions to convey emotions and ideas.

As renowned artist Piet Mondrian once said, "abstract art is not the creation of another reality but the true vision of reality." These artists are utilizing abstraction as a form of expression as well as independence from artistic constraints as they explore their subject and medium.

Royse has assembled an intriguing collection of work by artists working in an array of mediums including painting, drawing, photography, and mixed media. The interplay of geometric forms creates a visually captivating experience, showcasing the artist's mastery of balance, symmetry, and spatial relationships.

This exhibition showcases the work of eight noteworthy Arizona artists including: Casey Wakefield, Gerry Groeber, Kim Walker, Freddie Liberman, Daniel Shepherd, Marilyn Szabo, Joe Ray, Fred Tieken and Barbara Kemp Cowlin. Each artist approaches their work in an original way, and we are delighted to bring this dynamic collection of work to Royse Contemporary.

The “Abstraction + Geometry” exhibition will open to the public Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 6:00 to 9:00pm. We will host a special artist reception with an opportunity to meet the artists, along with refreshments and treats. “Abstraction + Geometry” will be on display at Royse Contemporary from February 6 through March 2, 2025.
